Our Story

47 years of art commerce.
One platform built to honor it.

PrismArt didn't start in a tech accelerator. It started in a gallery on Almeda Road in Houston, Texas.

In 1977, Robbie Lee founded Black Heritage Gallery — what would become Houston's oldest African-American art gallery. For nearly four decades, she represented artists, hosted exhibitions, and built relationships with collectors across the country. The gallery operated through 2014, and its legacy continues online through BH-Gallery.com.

Her son, Josh Sutton, grew up in that gallery. From birth, he was surrounded by art — traveling to conventions, helping with sales, watching his mother negotiate with collectors and institutions. He learned that art commerce isn't just about transactions. It's about trust, curation, and representation.

Years later, Josh saw something that the traditional gallery world hadn't solved: the entertainment industry — especially the booming “Hollywood South” production market across Texas and Louisiana — needed a better way to discover and license artwork for sets. Set designers were spending days hunting for the right piece. Artists with perfect work for productions had no way to reach them.

That gap became PrismArt.

Co-founded with Joshua Washington Pierre (CEO), PrismArt combines gallery-grade curation with AI-powered discovery. We auto-tag artwork by mood, style, era, and color palette — so a set designer can describe the scene they need to dress, and find the right piece in seconds.

We're not a stock photo site. We're not a generic marketplace. We're a platform built by people who grew up in the gallery world, for an industry that deserves better than scrolling through clip art.

Black Gallery Collective Art Salon

PrismArt is the digital home of the Black Gallery Collective Art Salon (BGCAS) — a cooperative bringing together 15-20 galleries for live salon events, starting with the inaugural event targeted for late 2027.

The salon bridges physical and digital: attend the event, discover artwork in person, then continue browsing and purchasing on PrismArt. Gallery members manage their catalogs, track revenue, and reach collectors well beyond the walls of a single venue.
